Students and Parents,
This time of year is always very exciting! I can remember when I was a student myself the excitement of getting new school supplies, finding out who was in my class and meeting my new teacher. Now as a teacher, I enjoy preparing my classroom and curriculum for a new school year as well as meeting all my new students. Hopefully summer was wonderful and you are now rejuvenated to start your sixth grade year! I know that I am ready to begin.
In Social Studies this year we will focus on the Eastern Hemisphere and mainly the Ancient Civilizations that were located in this area of the world. The units studied include Mesopotamia, World Religions, Ancient Egypt, Ancient India, and Ancient China. On my blog, as you can see, I have included websites that will further your learning on these units of study. These links will also become very beneficial for class projects and test preparation as well.
My blog will be useful for everyday classwork too. Plus I will include assessment preparation questions or study guides, key vocabulary, and essential questions for units of study. Some evenings students will be required to access the blog for their homework assignment.
By the end of the year you will be amazed at just how much you know about different areas of world. I look forward to the journey that awaits us!
